Elizabeth Jane Daniels
Elizabeth Jane Daniels, age 90, of Aarondale Retirement Community, 6929 Matthew Place, Springfield, VA, formerly of Lancaster, PA, passed away on September 13, 2013, at her residence.
Born in Lewistown, PA, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Ruth May Isenberg Teitsworth and the wife of the late Rev. William H. Daniels, who died on January 1, 2010.
Elizabeth graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Albright College, Reading, PA and a Master’s Degree from Washington University, St. Louis, MO.
She served as a missionary (along with her husband, William, in China from 1946 to 1951 and in Victoria, Australia twice: from 1982 to 1986 & again in 1988); and taught for 9 years at Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis, MO, where her son, Paul, was a student and later 12 years at the Lutheran School for the Deaf in Detroit, MI.
She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Lancaster, the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf, and UCC Global Ministries.
A son, Paul William Daniels, and a grandson, James William Daniels of Springfield, VA; and a sister, Marjorie K. Weaver, of Princeton, NJ, survive Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Reed Teitsworth.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Elizabeth’s Life Celebration Memorial Service at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 816 Buchanan Ave., Lancaster, PA, on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Lance Mullins, Rev. Deborah Miley, and Rev. Richard Teitsworth officiating. Interment will be in the Church of the Apostles United Church of Christ Memorial Garden, 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA, on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 4:00 PM. The family will receive friends at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ on Saturday from 2:00 PM until time of service. Please omit flowers.
