Elizabeth Wargell Williams
Elizabeth Wargell Williams, 76, of Wilmington, Ohio, died 7:00 AM, Monday, September 19, 2005, at her residence. Her husband, David Rombach Williams, preceded her in death in 1988. They were married November 26, 1955. Mrs. Williams was born October 16, 1928 in Shaker Heights, Ohio, daughter of the late Walter F. and Marie Patronsky Wargell. She received a Bachelor of Science in fine arts from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Mrs. Williams owned and operated Liz’s Ceramic Studio in Wilmington for 40 years. Recently she was the owner of Liz-Bet’s Clothing in Wilmington. She was a member of the St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Wilmington, Ohio, the Brush and Pen Club, the Red Hatters in Wilmington and Columbus, the Ohio Association of the Deaf, the National Association of the Deaf, the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf, and several other organizations for the deaf. She was a board member of Wilmington College, the Clinton County Historical Society, and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, New York. Mrs. Williams was well known for her contributions. Among the organizations she supported were the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, New York, the Murphy Theater, Wilmington College, the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf, the National Theatre of the Deaf, the Kentucky Commission for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing, the Deaf Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, the Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis, Missouri, the Boy Scouts of America, Clinton Memorial Hospital, and numerous other charities. Mrs. Williams also donated land to the Wilmington City Parks.
Mrs. Williams is survived by a son, James W. D. (Freda) Williams III of Wilmington, Ohio; two daughters, Abigail Williams of Dayton, Ohio and Bonnie Williams (Steve) Sandy of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, Dylan Honnerlaw of Dayton, Ohio, Athena Sandy of Columbus, Ohio, and Davina Sandy of Columbus, Ohio; and a cousin, Rachel (Dave) Lehmberg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, Ohio. Friends may call from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Thursday, September 22, 2005 and 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, September 23, 2005 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, P.O. Box 182039, Dept. 013, Columbus, Ohio 43218-2039 or to any of the organizations that Mrs. Williams supported.
