Henry Dayton Stone – Class of 1940

Henry Dayton Stone Formerly of Peoria, passed away at the age of 89, on December 28th at 8:10 PM. He was the son of the late John Boyd and Dorothy Dayton Stone, the stepson of the late Dorothy Higgins Stone and the brother of the late Cynthia Stone McDougal. Mr. Stone was born in Quincy, Illinois, on May 24th, 1923, and raised in Peoria, Illinois, before moving to Saint Louis, Missouri, in 1947. He attended and graduated from Central Institute For The Deaf, in Saint Louis, in 1940, as well as Peoria High School in 1943.

Surviving are Nephew Christopher Boyd Lemmon, and his wife Gina Raymond Lemmon, of South Glastonbury, Connecticut. His Niece Stephanie Robertson Saunders, and husband Dr. Donald E. Saunders III, of Charleston, South Carolina. His two great nieces Sydney Noel Lemmon, and Cynthia Saunders. And two great nephews Christopher Boyd Lemmon Junior, and Jonathan Dayton Lemmon.

Services: Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2012 11 a.m. at St. Pauls Episcopal Cathedral located at 3601 North North Street, Peoria. Rev. Cannon Ralph Stanwise will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home, located at 428 W. McClure Ave., Peoria. From 5-7:00 P.M. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Greater St. Louis Association of the Deaf or GSLAD, 2190 Creve Coeur Mill Road Maryland Heights, MO 63043.
