Imogene Myers, 99, of McLeansboro [Illinois], passed away 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Home in McLeansboro.
She was born Jan. 26, 1912, in Dahlgren, the daughter of James R. and Myrtle (Daily) Rawls. She married Allie W. Myers Aug. 14, 1935, in Carmi, and he preceded her in death June 30, 2002.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Thomas and husband Ron of McLeansboro; two sons, Larry Myers and wife Ruth of McLeansboro and David Myers and wife Dinah of Hillsboro, Mo.; one sister, Elizabeth Honig of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Dean Myers; one brother, Stanley Rawls; and two sisters, Ruth Jackson and Mildred Neal.
Myers was a teacher at Beaver Creek School and several one-room schools. She also substituted often. She was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Blooming Grove Baptist Church, with the Revs. Steve Shoultz and Josh Gottman officiating. Interment will be at Blooming Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Blooming Grove Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Blooming Grove Baptist Church and will be accepted at the church and Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro.
Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, is in charge of all arrangements.
