Ralph MacLean Mebane – Class of 1943

Ralph MacLean Mebane of Boulder, Colorado died Sunday, Dec. 8, 1996 at Boulder Community Hospital. He was 69.

He was born July 11, 1927 in Washington, D.C., to Thomas Mebane and Louise McLean Mebane. He married Peggy McCray on Dec. 26, 1953, in New Orleans.

Mr. Mebane retired from Ball Aerospace as a senior draftsman in 1993.

He grew up in Wilkes Barre, PA, and attended Central Institute for the Deaf. He moved to California in 1953, then to Boulder where he had lived the last 18 years.

He was a member of East Boulder Baptist Church, Denver Metro Deaf Senior Citizens, Denver Museum of Natural History and the Colorado Historical Society. He helped found First Baptist Church of Deaf Ministry in Van Nuys, CA.

He belonged to several photographic societies and received awards for his wildflower photography.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a daughter, Louise Mebane of Los Angeles; amd two brothers, Dt. Tom Mebane of State College, PA, and Dr. John C. Mebane of Hilo, Hawaii.
